I just got back from a fertility conference. It was amazing and inspiring to get to go with my collegues, and reinvigorate my desire to help women and men around their hormones.
One of the best speakers I saw was Randine Lewis who wrote the book Infertility Cures. She spoke of the idea of Wu Wei and how to be of service to our inner self. This is something I was alluding to in my blog about listening to your body. I think it is one of the many ways to listen to our path. Wu Wei is allowing our actions to arise spontaneously out of listening to our inner self. Going with the flow, allowing our things to happen from a place of ease, yet being awake to know when the opening or flow is calling us into action. Ok so what does Wikipedia say? In theTao te Ching, Lao Tzu explains that beings (or phenomena) that are wholly in harmony with the Tao behave in a completely natural, uncontrived way. The goal of spiritual practice for the human being is, according to Lao Tzu, the attainment of this purely natural way of behaving, as when the planets revolve around the sun. The planets effortlessly do this revolving without any sort of control, force, or attempt to revolve themselves, instead engaging in effortless and spontaneous movement. Then let us apply this to manifesting? Ok, so I set my intention on wanting not to have pain in my back. This in itself is a goal oriented pursuit. What if I listened and practiced from a space of intutition or balance to what the pain is teaching me? What if the pain is really teaching me how to listen to myself? When I listen to the pain, is it telling me I am moving too fast? I am making decisions my body is not ready to undertake. Let us apply it to something else! What about having a baby!? I personally know what this struggle is like. How does one be open to receiving, and connecting with the energy of baby spirits, yet not be attached to the potential of not birthing them ourselves? What if we are never able to have a child that we have birthed? What does it look like to let the longing of life long for itself? I do know goal-oriented pursuits, fear-based energy, and objects of desire create more fear of not getting "IT," creates illness. What if we asked the question, what are we of service to? What was our intention before we agreed to come into these earth bodies? What if we listened instead to the inner wisdom that can guide all of us? This is why I love acupuncture! Every time I am putting together a treatment for someone I am asking their body and spirit how they want to work together? How can I better help one find their calling to what they are to be of service to!?! When we stop living our lives from the place of fear and step into our bodies, letting our intuition guide us, then our actions can come from a place of service. Letting fear, greed, and goal-oriented pursuits drop away. So the question this time is, what is it you would like to manifest in your life? Then can you listen to your own inner guidance, and then follow the clues of service to guide your Wu Wei!
