There is so many forms and ways to meditate! What I find interesting is how we get resistant to something that makes us feel so good. Many people when receiving acupuncture say, “Wow, if I knew it would feel like this I would be doing it every day!” By the way, acupuncture is instant meditation. It puts our body, mind, and spirit in a state of perfect alignment. Many people ask me “how often should I do acupuncture when I am healthy?” Well, I give each individual a different amount of time. Some need to come every week, and some once a month. Are you having a hard time doing the things in your life that make you feel the way acupuncture makes you feel?
What is meditation? Anything can be meditation. The goal is to find something that will allow you to be present with what you are doing. Walking, swimming, running, cooking, cleaning, or gardening are all possibilities of meditation. I personally love Qi Gong, Taoist meditations, and yoga. Funny enough, I have learned many complicated forms of all of these, but what brings me to the present moment the quickest is the most simplest of all the forms....GROUNDING! I remember learning this from my teacher, and all I could think about was “when do we get to learn the cool stuff.” My mind couldn't wrap around the fact that the simplest thing can bring me to the present moment and out of my mind. The same thing happened when we learned Qi Gong. I loved the complicated routines, but they don’t fill me up with energy like a standing meditation does. What does happen with complicated meditation practices is they trick the mind (or train it) to be silent; to be able to listen to our inner voice. The complicated routine gives our mind something to focus on rather than the relentless droning of our brain chatter. They allow us to tune into that sparkly intuition that can only come about when we are quiet. Meditation allows us to let go of those things that no longer serve us. Negative self talk, replaying interactions, other people’s energy. The list of things we carry around is endless. What is stopping you from meditating? What inner tape plays for you that stops you from listening deeply? I have been inspired to offer to my regular clients a free group meet up in Ladd’s Addition to meditate with the roses! Noon on Wednesdays! Just text me that you are interested. Rain or shine because we are Oregonians! If you are not a regular client just offer a donation or gift for my time. Group meditation really moves the energy, and funny enough the group that gets together usually is working on the same healing! Want a kick start with Acupuncture to get mediating? Ask me for 25% off to get back to meditating! Good through December!!!
