It is that time of year where everyone starts to come in and say I overdid it at the holidays. I feel down, and want to sleep a lot. I feel the winter blues. Besides acupuncture helping to ward off the winter blues, and bad digestion. I like to encourage patients to do a few things to help the liver and stomach on their end. All the over-indulgence of sugar, fat, and alcohol has overloaded our bodies. This is why we feel mentally and physically fatigued! Here are a few things to add to help your body repair the holiday damage. Sometimes it comes down to taking a break from those heavy hitters!
Easy Cleansing Just cut out of your diet; Sugar, Alcohol, and Caffeine. Give yourself 4-6 weeks of loving your body by removing these strong chemically altering foods from your diet. You can replace sugar with Stevia or Xylitol. I love green tea in the morning instead of caffeine. I also love Kombucha as a way to relax at night, and get some good probiotics after dinner! You may just feel better, and realize you are not missing your old habits at all! You can also add these excellent remedies for our overtaxed systems. My Favorite Green Juice Recipe: Put in a Juicer:
Apple Cider Vinegar
So my favorite way to get me motivated to start juicing is to go to my favorite juice cart Best Friend. They are right by my work, and they are so affordable. For all of my clients that have not been around for awhile come in and get some acupuncture, and stop by Best Friend and have a juice on me! They also do this awesome turmeric steamer with homemade almond milk! YUM YUM!
